Who runs this site

Well, We're Off. is run by the author of Well, We're Off., who is responsible for the processing described here.

The short version

There are no accounts, no newsletter sign-up, no advertising trackers and no cookies. We count visits in an anonymous way, and that's it.

What is processed, and why

Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details. This is necessary to run the site (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare acts as our processor.

Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or fingerprinting and does not track you across sites. It gives us totals such as page views, referring sites and countries (legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful).

Interaction counts. When you switch an itinerary day, use the map, or click a booking link, the site adds one to an anonymous daily total for that page. No IP address, cookie, device identifier or anything else that could identify you is stored.

Maps. Itinerary maps load map tiles from OpenFreeMap, using OpenStreetMap data. Loading them sends your IP address to their servers, as with any web request. Map tiles only load on itinerary pages.

Email. If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. If you choose a light or dark theme, that choice is kept in your browser's local storage on your device and never sent to us.

Links to other sites

Some links go to booking partners such as Booking.com, GetYourGuide or Viator, and some are affiliate links. Nothing is sent to those sites until you click. Once you are on their site, their own privacy and cookie policies apply. Links to Google Maps and Wanderlog work the same way.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data about you, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it. Because we store almost nothing that identifies anyone, there is usually nothing to hand over, but just ask. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
